Everything Announced During the Xbox Games Showcase

The long-awaited Xbox Games Showcase was held today and featured dozens of games headed to Microsoft’s Series X. Along with the games, they also announced that they would all be coming to Xbox Game Pass. Although we still have no price point for the new console, there were plenty of amazing announcements. Here’s everything that was announced during the 2020 Xbox Games Showcase.

Halo Infinite

343 Studios finally gave us a glimpse at Halo Infinite in the form of a gameplay demo. Master Chief is back! Stranded on a Halo ring and to get home, he must stop The Banished. The classic gameplay we all know and love seems to be intact with new abilities, guns, and an all new grappling hook. When Chief pulls up his map, you get a glimpse of the game world. Visuals suggest that Halo Infinite may be entering the open-world genre. A departure from their classic linear game style. Halo: Infinite will release Holiday 2020.

State of Decay 3

The action-adventure zombie survival horror game is returning for its 3rd installment on Series X. The showcased trailer didn’t offer much information, but we know that it will feature infected animals.

Forza Motorsport

The graphical fidelity seems to improve with every iteration of Forza Motorsport. Turn10 gave us a look at what Forza Motorsport will look like on Series X, and it is beautiful.

Everwild

For years gamers have been waiting for Rare to return to form. A studio with ideas that we haven’t seen since the days of the Nintendo 64. The announcement of Everwild is a beautifully artistic, brand new IP from Rare. We weren’t given much information on the game during its trailer but we’re happy to see Rare creating something new.

Tell Me Why

Life is Strange was one of the biggest surprises in gaming when it released back in 2016. Dontnod’s Tell Me Why seems very similar in every way, and it’s coming soon! Tell Me Why Chapter 1 will be available on August 17th of this year.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps

Moon Studios has been hard at work on an updated version of Ori and the Will of the Wisps made explicitly for Xbox Series X. This updated version will run at 120 FPS and full 4K HDR. This updated version of Ori and the Will of the Wisps will be a free upgrade for existing owners of the game through Smart Delivery 2020.

The Outer Worlds: Peril on Gorgon

The Outer Worlds is getting a major expansion! On September 9th, players will get a chance to visit the Gorgon asteroid. Peril on Gorgon will be fully integrated into the original game and will not be a standalone DLC pack. With it, The Outer Worlds will continue the games’ story and will be filled with secrets and mysteries to uncover.

Grounded

Grounded is a hilarious survival game from Obsidian Entertainment. Think ‘Honey I Shrunk the Kids.’ You, along with friends, will try to survive in a backyard as miniature versions of yourselves. As you build and fortify your base to defend against hordes of insects. Grounded will be coming to Xbox Game Preview and Steam Early Access on July 28th of 2020.

Avowed

Avowed is Obsidian Entertainment’s next epic adventure. A first-person RPG with a similar style to the Elder Scrolls franchise.

As Dusk Falls

As Dusk Falls seems to be an interactive game similar in style to Quantic Dreams’ Beyond: Two Souls or, more recently, Detroit: Become Human. A story-driven adventure game with fantastic art from Interior/Night studios.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2

The next entry in the Hellblade franchise, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, is the upcoming game from Ninja Theory. We hope that this sequel continues to touch on themes of mental illness as it did in the first entry. It made for a compelling and fantastic adventure that changed the way we view game narratives.

Psychonauts 2

Double Fine Studios is back with its long-awaited sequel to Psychonauts. The event featured a fantastic psychedelic trailer starring a singing Jack Black. Who doesn’t want to be serenaded by Jack Black? The crowdfunded third-person platform game is planned for release in 2021.

Destiny 2 (All Expansions)

This September Destiny 2 and its expansions will be coming to Xbox Game Pass and will even be playable on mobile through the tentatively named Project xCloud. Later this year, Destiny 2 will also release an optimized version of Destiny 2 for Series X titled Beyond Light.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 returns to the zone. The sequel to the immersively dark S.T.A.L.K.E.R. surprised many with this announcement. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is an open-world FPS in which player decisions will have consequences. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will be coming to Series X as a Console Launch Exclusive and to PC.

Warhammer 40,000 Darktide

If you’re a fan of Warhammer, then get ready for Darktide, a 4-player co-op action game from the makers of the frantically fun Vermintide. Darktide is set to release in 2021.

Tetris Effect Connected

Tetris has been around since the golden age of gaming. With Tetris Effect Connected, it appears we will be getting a Tetris game featuring an optimized single-player experience and online co-op or competitive multiplayer. Tetris Effect Connected is a Console Exclusive Launch to Series X and will be an upgrade to Tetris Effect on PS4.

The Gunk

The makers of SteamWorld are creating a new adventure game set in a hostile environment infested with a mysterious black goo. Or gunk. It looks like players will be uncovering the mysteries of The Gunk next fall in 2021.

The Medium

We got a glimpse of The Medium back in May during Xbox’s Series X reveal event. This time around, we received a full trailer that feels heavily inspired by Silent Hill. The Medium is an upcoming psychological horror game in which a pivotal game mechanic is its Dual-Reality Gameplay. A mechanic highlighted its ability to render two worlds simultaneously, displaying the power and capabilities of the Series X console. The Medium is a console launch exclusive for Series X.

Phantasy Star Online 2: NEW GENESIS

It’s still unclear what Phantasy Star Online 2 NEW GENESIS is. It looks like a complete overhaul of the MMORPG genre. Featuring a new and expansive world, new enemies and bosses, NEW GENESIS feels like Phantasy Star Online 2.0, and it’s coming in 2021.

CrossfireX

The fast-paced fantastic FPS gameplay of Crossfire is coming to Xbox Series X. CrossfireX will allow you to squad up this year!

Fable

After months of rumors, a new Fable game was revealed! The game series, deemed The Legend of Zelda of Xbox, is finally returning after 10 years without a main franchise game. The long-awaited return is finally happening, and it’s coming to Series X.
