Game Pass Hits 18 Million

Despite the recent backlash over Xbox Live Gold price increases, Microsoft continues to grow in Xbox Game Pass subscribers and today announced a new milestone as Game Pass hits 18 million subscribers.

THE BEST DEAL IN GAMING

Often referred to as “Netflix for Gaming” Xbox Game Pass is a 3 tiered subscription service for PC, Xbox, and mobile devices. Starting at $9.99/mo. Members get access to over 100 PC or console games. New games are constantly being added and Xbox Game Studio titles drop on the same day as release. For an additional $5 ($14.99/mo) Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers get all the benefits plus in-game content perks, Xbox Live Gold, cloud gaming and more!

Today, Microsoft announced that Xbox Game Pass has passed 18 million subscribers. That’s an additional 3 million from September of last year. Microsoft continues to add to Xbox Game Pass with content brought over from their recent ZeniMax Media acquisition as well as EA Play from their partnership with EA. Regular game additions and the inclusion of an Xbox Live Gold membership makes Game Pass Ultimate the best deal in gaming. If the recent rumors are true, Ubisoft Plus will soon be joining Game Pass alongside EA. Further sweetening the deal.

MICROSOFT’S BIG WIN

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella revealed in an earnings call today that Xbox Live has more than 100 million monthly active users. Nadella went on to say that the Xbox Series X and S saw the most successful launch in Microsoft history.

Microsoft’s Phil Spencer and Tim Stuart have mentioned that Microsoft will “absolutely” continue to buy more studios and wants the future of games to be “either first or better or best” on Xbox. As Microsoft continues to expand its library of games on Xbox Game Pass we can only expect Sony to react. Although Sony does offer its own subscription service via PlayStation NOW, it isn’t anywhere near as robust as Microsoft’s offering.
