Sadly, such a mouse is usually quite expensive and not very accessible to the regular Joe MMO player.

Since everything should be taken with a grain of salt in this industry, we put together a comprehensive and detailed UtechSmart Venus review where we tested the mouse’s capabilities. Features that recommend the UtechSmart Venus gaming mouse
Since the good price is not the only aspect that recommends a product (especially for gaming), let’s take a look at the features that matters with this mouse.
The general design
In general, a gaming mouse is bulkier than a regular one and this happens because there are more controls to include. They are also designed with comfort in mind and include various design elements that make them appealing for gamers. When we did the Redragon M601 review, it was quite obvious that design goes a long way!
The UtechSmart Venus MMO gaming mouse fits naturally in your hand and is even designed with a place where you can rest the ring finger (so it’s quite wide). This may be a bit weird if you have small hands, but you’ll get used to it in time. Otherwise, the Venus 50 is immediately comfortable in your hand and, just to make an idea of how big it is, is physical dimensions are: 5 x 3 x 1.7 inches (length, width, and height).
It is designed for right-handed people and the surface that gets in contact with your palm is specially created to maintain a firm grip. This way, even if your palms get sweaty from all the excitement in the game, the mouse won’t slip from your hand at a more sudden move. In our opinion, this is a huge selling point as you don’t want your mouse slipping away at the utmost crucial moment.
On the surface that gets in contact with your desk (the feet and belly), you’ll find some nice and cozy Teflon pads that increase the level of control during movement and make the case more resistant to wear and tear. So you have great grip and movement support from both sides of the mouse.
Buttons are easy to reach and, on the left side, you’ll find a numeric pad which is an impressive feature for this price. The rest of the buttons are placed on top, allowing you easy access in any situation. But, we’ll discuss the controls a bit later in our UtechSmart Venus review. For now, let’s focus on the design. To continue, we should talk about the lighting possibilities – like any gaming mouse, the Venus 50 is equipped with several LED lights that highlight the logo, the scroll wheel, and several other areas of the mouse. The uniqueness of this feature stands in the wide range of available colors (16 million!). You have the possibility to change the color according to the profile and even set the brightness. However, you should know that the color of the scroll wheel and the DPI buttons doesn’t change. This means that, if you want another color on your profile, you’ll end up with two different colors on your mouse which may be a bit too much for some users.
To complete the design description, the UtechSmart Venus 16400 is equipped with a 6ft cable (braided-fiber) and can be connected to your computer using the gold-plated USB connector. This keeps the connection flawless and ensures the user that won’t be any wear or tear on the cable.
The buttons
As promised, we’ll discuss the available buttons on the UtechSmart Venus MMO gaming mouse. You should know that the device is equipped with 19 buttons out of which 18 are programmable (you can assign different functions to them). So here they are:
- A 12-grid numeric pad which promotes sloped buttons accessible with the thumb. The buttons are designed and positioned in such a way that you’ll know which is which without looking.
- A ‘fire’ button easily accessible with the right index finger (at the top left of the mouse)
- 2 buttons for adjusting the DPI settings – right behind the scroll wheel
- The regular right, left, and scroll wheel buttons
- One button on the back for switching between profiles
Other settings that must be mentioned
As you can imagine, things don’t stop here! The UtechSmart Venus 50 is quite an advanced mouse and comes equipped with other amazing features that must be mentioned. Thus, we have the following:
- It features 1000 Hz polling rate – this means that your mouse will send messages to your computer 1000 times per second. The translation would be that every move you make will be immediately transmitted to the processor.
- Up to 16400 DPI – the mouse is designed with 5 interchangeable DPI profiles which give you maximum customization power when it comes to this feature
- 30G acceleration which allows you to customize the movement of the cursor according to your needs
- The possibility to customize the weight using a weight kit.
System requirements
Sadly, the UtechSmart Venus 50 doesn’t run on Mac computers, but we all know that if you want a gaming unit you won’t choose a MacBook. The mouse works on Windows 7, 8, and 10 and needs about 20mb of space for the software.
