Let me preface this AOC i2757FH monitor review to say that it is one of the prettiest monitors out there at its budget range. It is a hidden gem in the gaming scene, as it isn’t really marketed as a “gaming monitor“. The i2757FH is a 27” widescreen IPD LED monitor that is ultra slim, measuring at only 10.6mm.

If you’ve been searching for a top-of-the-line monitor that will reproduce brilliant color in high definition – while still being relatively affordable – you need to consider purchasing the AOC 2757.

Features

Exterior

The monitor and stand is bridged together by a cool-looking metallic bezel that measured only 5.8mm. This adds to the overall simplistic aesthetic that AOC looks like they were going for. The bezel is customizable to your preference, and it is even removable if you need to pack away the parts for a while. Because the stand is removable, you do have the option to mount it to a wall.

Positioning to either face upward or downward the monitor is easy. This makes it much easier to find a comfortable position from the monitor to your eye level.

Connectivity

For connectivity, it features 2 HDMI ports and 1 D-Sub port, otherwise known as the VGA port. It is very rare to see monitors make use of the VGA port these days, but thankfully the i2757FH has one. This is useful for connecting older devices that do not yet make use of HDMI, such as old laptops or computers with no dedicated graphics cards. There is also an audio jack, which I find convenient to plug earphones in while still being close to the monitor (my actual PC with an audio port is further away than the monitor is).

Monitor speakers

Many monitors out there also tend to do away with built-in speakers, assuming that you already have a pair of headphones for gaming. Perhaps you do have dedicated headsets for audio, but it is always nice to have speakers within the monitor anyway, for when you are doing regular browsing or just hopping on Netflix or something. The speakers themselves aren’t anything to write home about, but I appreciate them being there for when I need quick audio.

Physical buttons

The interface on the monitor (5 buttons underneath the screen) is best-in-class. They are touch sensitive, and so they are hardly visible without trying. This, in my opinion, adds to the overall simplistic aesthetic. The buttons allow you to change the brightness or contrast, the volume, color setups, or graphical modes — essentially presets/combinations for ideal viewing.

Resolution

Of course, this is a 1920 x 1080p resolution monitor. For those with gaming computers not yet suitable for 1440p or 4K resolutions, I highly recommend pairing up with this AOC. Games in 1080p look beautiful on this screen and I experience zero screen tearing.

What I really liked about the AOC i2757FH – Pros

There are quite a few things I appreciated from this monitor that make it a complete package.

The resolution, for example, is perfect for gaming at 1920 x 1080p. The monitor enables you to enjoy picture-perfect and crystal-clear images unlike some of the cheaper models out there. Its refresh rate is decent, which means you will get smooth on-screen action without ghosting, motion blur, or buffering.

On top of that, there are two HDMI ports you can easily plug into, a VGA port, a headphone jack – that can be used to feed external speakers as well – and an audio input for a microphone or recording device. The connectivity is very generous of AOC and customers that require those ports will appreciate them.

The monitor has an absolutely gorgeous external design that keeps this monitor looking slim. The shiny finish at the back of the monitor adds a nice touch as well. It will fit well aesthetically with most gaming PCs, as it does not look bulky nor does it try too hard to look nice.

Performance

Based on my own experience and testing time with the AOC i2757FH, it competes with some of the gaming monitors at this price range. For 1080p gaming, the screen looks incredible and response time is good enough to play fast-paced games at high frames per second with. The screen also has some kind of anti-glare finish on it, despite also being somewhat glossy.

For basic use, I would still recommend this monitor. My eyes don’t strain from looking at the monitor over extended periods of time. Glare from sunshine or reflections are very minimal as well. It works just like it should.

The speakers aren’t as good as standalone speakers, or even sound bars like the Vizio S3820w-c0, which we wrote a review on here. But they are surprisingly decent, even when turned up to listen to movies or music. You aren’t going to feel bass or anything crazy like that, but the sound is pretty crisp and it works nice enough if you are looking for a quick audio solution. I would still advise getting a separate pair of headphones, though.

The glossy finish is one of the stylish touches of the i2757.

A couple of things to note on the AOC i2757FH – Cons

There were really only two things that I wasn’t exactly wild about when I bought my new monitor, and it’s important that I touch on them – even though I don’t think you are going to be all that upset by either of them.

The first is that there is a lack of USB support on this particular monitor. I got used to having an extra USB hub included in my monitor to connect my USB-wired gaming headset. It isn’t a deal-breaker for me not to have a USB port there, though, since I could always plug the headphones to my actual PC. I just found it important to note for those that like having that port.

The second minor issue I had with my purchase is that AOC didn’t include a separate HDMI cable. That is confusing for me as a consumer, since we are in an age where HDMI connectivity is a must if you want to utilize a resolution of 1920 x 1080p. The i2757FH didn’t come with one, instead shipping with only a VGA cable. Again, it’s not going to stop me from purchasing again (especially since HDMI cables go for around $10 each), but it would have been nice to have for convenience sake.

AOC i2757FH Review: Final Verdict

At the end of the day, if you have been searching for a top-quality monitor at this price point (~$250-$300), there are few that provide more value than the AOC i27575FH. It performs well as a gaming monitor, despite not being marketed as one. For work or regular use, the screen looks great and causes no eye strain, even after several hours.
